Today we are speaking Dan Read from Root & Branch, a strategy and innovation consultancy with a focus on clients in the global beverages industry...

Hi Dan, so what exciting things are happening with you at the moment?

On the work front we're about to get started on a global development project focused on beverages in the digestive health space. It's going to be a challenge given some of the restrictions in the brief and for us that makes it all the more worthwhile.

If money was no object, what would you do all day?

My natural state is pretty much inert so I probably need the motivation provided by the necessity to work. At a push I'd say that after a protracted period of moping I'd probably get around to clearing out the garage. It's a good question and one that I should probably think about!

What is the most embarrassing thing you have done (that you’re willing to share :-))?

A very long time ago (while in a temporary job in the Summer holidays) I remember talking rather unkindly about a co-worker during a break. The lady I was talking to, and trying to impress with my observations, listened for far too long before informing me that the object of my ire was in fact her father. "Awkward".

Is there anything that no one here knows about you? What is it?

My name is Daniel; my father named me after an Elton John song.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Honestly, I have no idea what was going on in my mind. I now have children of my own and they seem similarly clueless which is disappointing but also strangely comforting.

Favourite thing about GROW?

It feels like we have a big open plan space with everything we need to do business at a reasonable price.

In your opinion, what is the most valuable aspect of co working?

Well frankly it's a fair bit cheaper than renting a tiny office which would not have the facilities or atmosphere of Grow. As we are in and out a lot it makes sense to share a space with other like-minded people.

Thanks Dan, well we all have our mopey, inert days and hopefully our buzzy days at GROW help keep the energy up! Good luck with the new global project, sounds very healthy! Keep us posted :-)!
